Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy
Your privacy and trust matter to me. This page outlines how The Tempest House collects and handles your personal information, along with the terms that apply when you book a design package or purchase from our vintage and antique collections.

1. Our Services
The Tempest House provides fully virtual interior design and styling services, including the Finishing Touches package, the Complete Room package, and multi-room bundles of either. All services are delivered online — there are no in-person consultations or site visits.
We provide design direction, moodboards, sourcing lists, styling notes and layout guidance. All purchasing and physical implementation of the design is completed by the client. The Tempest House is not responsible for installation, delivery, assembly, or the physical execution of any design.
For kitchen, bathroom and laundry projects, The Tempest House provides aesthetic direction only — colours, finishes, hardware, lighting and styling. Technical drawings, measurements for construction, and all construction documentation must be completed by a qualified builder, cabinetmaker or tradesperson. We accept no responsibility for construction outcomes based on our styling recommendations.
2. Booking & Payment
- Packages are booked and paid for in advance via our website.
- Once payment is received, you will be sent a design questionnaire via email to complete before work begins.
- Work commences only after your completed questionnaire has been submitted.
3. Turnaround Times
Turnaround times for your first design concept are as follows, calculated from the date your completed questionnaire is submitted:1 room - 10 days
2-3 rooms - 14 days
4+ rooms - 21 days
Turnaround times are estimates based on standard workload and may be affected by factors outside our control (e.g. product availability, response delays from the client). We will notify you of any expected delay as soon as we're aware of it.
4. Revisions
- Finishing Touches includes one round of revisions.
- Complete Room includes two rounds of revisions.
- Bundle packages include the same number of revisions per room as the equivalent single-room package.
Additional concepts or revisions beyond those included can be requested for an additional fee, to be quoted on request.
5. Trade Pricing & Purchasing on Your Behalf
Some recommended items may be available to-the-trade only, meaning they cannot be purchased directly by you at retail. In some cases they can, however The Tempest House can secure them at a better rate. If you would like The Tempest House to purchase these items on your behalf:
- You will be sent an invoice for the item(s), inclusive of discount. The price will be better than any retail price you can find at that time.
- Payment must be received in full before the order is placed.
- Once payment is received, we will place the order with the relevant supplier.
Stock & Availability
Vintage, antique and one-of-a-kind items sell quickly and, once gone, cannot be replaced. Retail items may also go in and out of stock without notice. The Tempest House is not responsible for items becoming unavailable or out of stock, whether before or after they are recommended to you. If a recommended item becomes unavailable, we can suggest an alternative at an additional cost, or you are welcome to source a similar item yourself.
6. Cancellations & Refunds
- If you wish to withdraw from a project after booking but before your questionnaire is submitted, please email me for a full refund.
- Once work has commenced (i.e. your questionnaire has been submitted and design work has begun), there will be no refunds.
- The Tempest House reserves the right to withdraw from a project if we determine, at our discretion, that we are not the right fit for a client's needs or aesthetic or do not believe we can deliver the appropriate level of service. In this case, a full refund will be given.
7. Aesthetic Fit
The Tempest House specialises in modern traditional, vintage-inspired and cottage-style interiors. We recommend reviewing our portfolio before booking to ensure our aesthetic aligns with your vision. We reserve the right to decline or withdraw from a project where we believe we cannot deliver a result the client will be happy with.
8. Vintage & Antique Sales (Drops & Market Pop-Ups)
Items sold via our seasonal vintage and antique drops, or at in-person market pop-ups, are separate from our design services and are:
- Sold as-is, given their vintage or antique nature (wear, patina and imperfections are part of the item's character, not a defect).
- Limited in quantity and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Non-refundable except as required under Australian Consumer Law.
9. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including but not limited to photography, written copy, moodboards and design concepts — is the property of The Tempest House and may not be reproduced, distributed or used commercially without written permission.
Design concepts and moodboards provided to clients are for personal use in implementing their own space and may not be resold or used for commercial purposes.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, The Tempest House is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from the use of our services, including but not limited to product unavailability, delays, or outcomes of physical implementation carried out by the client or third parties.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
